A Lapwing (Tofsvipa) also flew south over the obs this morning and the Great Reed Warbler (Trastsångare) is still present and singing from the northern end of the reedbed at Bredmar, often audible from the observatory!

1st June 2019

2019 JuniPosted by Espen & Matt 01 Jun, 2019 18:35:26

The month started on a real high with a stunning male Sardinian Warbler (Sammetshätta) ringed at Bredmar mid-morning, the first record for Landsort and only the 10th for Sweden. We also recaptured our oldest Lesser Whitethroat (Ärtsångare) on record which was ringed eight years ago – good to see it is still going strong! Migration has dropped off since the big rush around 19th May, and since then we have mainly been recording the later migrants as well as increasing numbers of local breeding birds.
